Washington, DC - We are saddened to share the news that our beloved Mildred, passed away peacefully on Nov. 6th. Mildred Faulcon Raiford was born on March 23, 1941, in Weldon NC.
Her gentle kindness, wry humor, and warm wisdom will be remembered by us all. A memorial reception will be held at their apartment complex in Washington DC on November 19th. Additional services will be held in the spring in her hometown of Weldon, details to be determined. The family offers their deep gratitude for the support, concern, and affection we have received from friends and relatives during this difficult time. She is survived by her husband, Dr Gilbert Raiford; her children and their spouses, Janice Raiford Alder (and Matthias Alder), Wanda Raiford, Gilbert Raiford Jr (and Ivonne Coronado), and Douglas Raiford; and her grandchildren, Marcus, Leonie, Arianna, Elijah, and Ezekiel.

it is hard to imagine that a year has transpired since you took leave of us. You picked a good month full of meaning - my birthday, Gil's birthday, Dia de Los Muertos (which is an excellent time to remember our ancestors(, and Thanksgiving - a time to embrace our families and share the Love. A Love Supreme you showered on us and we continue to shine in its warm rays. Peace.

Dearest Dr. Raiford and Family:
Please accept my deepest sympathy. I just learned of Ms. Mildred´s passing, today. I didn´t know her well but did know that she was loving and kind. Her eyes lit up when she spoke of her children and grands.

Although I didn´t know Ms. Mildred well, I knew she was a sweet soul with a loving heart. She loved her husband children, and grandchildren and it showed, as her face lit up when she spoke of them.
I´m so sorry, Mr. Trees. I believe that "weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." We will see Ms. Mildred again. God bless you and your family and please accept my deepest sympathy.

Mildred was a kind soul, a good listener, and genuinely cared about her friends. I am so grateful for the years I got to spend with her and Gil. We have an angel in heaven watching over us all.
