Mildred M. Rucker, age 86, of Rock Falls, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at Coventry Living Center in Sterling. Mildred was born June 8, 1925 in Lawler, Iowa the daughter of George and Mary (Pecinovsky) Smith. She married Everett "Tony" Rucker on November 10, 1956 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1985. Mildred was in the first group of eight women State Police Dispatchers in the State of Iowa. She was employed at Belscott in Rock Falls as the Electronics Manager. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls where she was involved in the Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn Mandrell of Rock Falls; three sons, Thomas (Marcia) Rucker, David Rucker and Rick (Chris) Rucker all of Rock Falls; four grandchildren, Nathaniel (Betsy) Rucker of Montgomery, Ala., Erin Rucker, Jessica Mandrell and Noah Rucker all of Rock Falls and three great grandchildren, Claire, Leah and Kale. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and one brother, Leland Smith. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls with Msgr. Thomas Dzielak officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 2012 from 5 - 7 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls. Online condolences may be sent to www.mcdonaldfuneralhomes.com.
