Mildred Seamone Obituary
Published by Legacy on Dec. 3, 2025.
Mildred "Millie" Carolyn Seamone (Johnston), most recently of Nantucket, Massachusetts, went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 28, 2025. She was 93 years old.
Millie was born on June 12, 1932, in Medway, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late George and Ervilla Johnston. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Douglas W. Seamone; her firstborn son, Stephen D. Seamone; her siblings Robert Johnston, Arthur Johnston, and Marjorie Barber; her son-in-law James Kilgallon; and her granddaughter Renee Smith (Seamone).
She is survived by her brother Warren Johnston of Lindonville, Vermont; and by her four children: Greg Seamone of Woonsocket, RI; Melinda Bernard (John) of Fort Mill, SC; Beth Kilgallon of Medway, MA; and Leslie Hofford (Adam) of Nantucket, MA as well as her daughter-in-law, Cassie Seamone of Bellingham, MA.
Millie's legacy continues through her eleven living grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Eric Seamone; Nadine Bullock (Matthew) and their children Ethen, Angie, and Josiah; David Seamone; Geoffrey Bernard and his son Liam; Daniel Bernard; Emily Bernard; Ryan Kilgallon; Elizabeth Kilgallon; Claudia Hofford; Samuel Hofford; Ella Hofford; and Emma Smith, daughter of the late Renee Smith.
A woman of deep, personal faith, Millie poured her life into serving God and others. She was a member of the Medway Village Church in Medway, MA for many years, where she joyfully volunteered as a church secretary, taught Sunday School, led youth group, sang in the church choir, opened her home for Good News Club, and served faithfully in Vacation Bible School. For the past 20 years she has been a faithful member of the Summer Street Church on Nantucket Island. Her quiet dedication, tireless work ethic, and steadfast love touched countless lives. If there was work to be done, Millie was the first to raise her hand to get it done!
Millie found happiness in simple joys and creative pursuits. She was gifted with her hands-knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking, gardening, and even making her own root beer. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed puzzles, Scrabble, Yahtzee, and other board games-always shouting with delight when she rolled a Yahtzee-and took pride in wallpapering and decorating her home. She loved camping and making family memories outdoors.
Despite having little materially, Millie made every holiday magical, especially Christmas, filling the house with warmth, decorations, and the wonderful smell of homemade apple pies, cookies, and breads. She was resourceful, resilient, and unfailingly joyful. She always seemed to have a song in her heart. Her family remembers her laughter, her ability to tell stories and make others laugh, her refusal to complain, and her remarkable faithfulness through seasons of deep loss. Even after losing her husband at 65 and her son at 39, she never gave up and never lost her joy.
Millie will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant's heart, her generosity, and the love she freely gave to her family and community. Her legacy of joy, kindness, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring at the Medway Village Church, date to be announced at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Millie's memory to Hope House Haiti, PO Box 3222, Nantucket, MA 02584, or to the Medway Village Church, 170 Village St, Medway, MA 02053
