MILDRED GREENE SMITH
Henderson, TN: Mildred Lucille Greene Smith, age 88, passed away March 4, 2025, at Northbrooke Post Acute in Jackson.
She was born December 28, 1936, in Henderson, TN the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Jewel Layfette Cherry Greene. She went to school in Chester County. She married Bill Smith in 1955. They made their home in Henderson. She worked at Salant & Salant Mfg.
She and her husband Bill owned and operated Hi -Way Wrecker Service, they retired in 1995.
They were dedicated to serving the people of Chester County. Bill Smith passed away 2003.
She was a member of the Sanford Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Randy Smith of Henderson and Roger Smith (Anita) of Bemis, TN: a caregiver, ex-daughter-in-law, Tina Ross (Damon) of Henderson; and three sisters, Dot Patterson of Pekin, IL, Louise Bennett of GA and Darlene Reece (Mike) of AR; grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Brooke Van Trump (Ross), Morgan Smith and Tommy Smith and great grandchildren, John Calvin Hilton, Raegan Van Trump and Rowen Van Trump.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Smith, two brothers, Raymond Greene and Tommy Greene and two sisters, Martha Newsom and Billie Jean Carter.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ronnie Geary officiating. Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time Sunday.
