Giovanini Funeral Home & Cremation ServiceMildred Lewis Vujovich passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025 at the age of 100, one month short of her 101st birthday. Mildred was born and raised in the Universal/ Clinton, Indiana area and was a resident of Hastings since 1957. Born on September 21,1924 in Universal, Indiana, she was the eldest child of Smelja (née Narancic) and Vid Sava Chubrilo, Serbian immigrants from the former Yugoslavia. Mildred, known as "Mimi" and "Millie" was a 1942 graduate of Clinton High School.
She held many positions over the years, but is best remembered as Patient Advocate at Regina Memorial Hospital in Hastings. She loved working with the public and with well-honed people and clerical skills was asked to play a key role in introducing Medicare to the Hastings community. She loved spending time with her family, visiting with friends and working with the hospital auxiliary at Regina Memorial Hospital.
Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beulah Milatovich, brother Victor Chubrilo, husbands James Lewis and John Vujovich and son Gerald Lewis. She is survived by her son James Lewis (Gregg) of Birmingham, Michigan; daughter-in-law Cheryl Lewis of St. Paul; and three grandchildren as well as three great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service/ Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2025 at Resurrection United Methodist Church of Hastings, 615 15th Street West, Hastings, Minnesota. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service which is scheduled for 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
