Death Notice

Mildred L. Winscott

1928 - 2023

Mildred "Mike" Winscott
Mildred Winscott (nee Riffel) passed away in her home on her 95th birthday Friday, December 15th, 2023 surrounded by her adoring family.
Mildred, or "Mike" as she was known by her friends, was born on December 15, 1928 in Moberly, MO to parents Thomas M. Riffel and Anna Caroline (Beuth). She was the fourth of five children, and the youngest of the "Three Graces" along with sisters Dorothy "Dot" Paisley and Mary Jamboretz.
Mike attended boarding school at the Mount St. Scholastica with her sisters. The Mount provided lifetime friends and the memories of grand escapades.
After high school, she attended Webster College where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work. During college, Mike met Raymond "Scottie" Winscott also of Moberly, MO. The two quickly fell in love and were later married in 1951.
Mike had eight beautiful daughters, to the chagrin and happiness of the ultimate sportsman Scottie. She was a woman with ceaseless energy and determination - riding her bike to church every day, water skiing into her eighties, golfing, traveling into her nineties, and again, mother to eight women.
She was a loving and doting grandmother "Bilou" to her 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Although, 'hon,' she wouldn't let you get away with too much.
Mike is cherished by many for her wit, wisdom, and practicality. A glance of an eye, a word or two you knew her mind, and if you needed to change your attitude or your outfit.
She is remembered by her daughters Linda Weber (Kevin), Renee Swartz (Jerry), Andrea Poe (Bruce), Anne Lenz (Michael), Stacia Burch (Michael), and Molly Hohl. Mike is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond and her daughters Melissa Lee and Lorian Ramming.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, at 12:00pm at Mary Queen of Peace in Webster Groves. A reception for all immediately following.
The family will hold a private burial in Moberly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital at www.glennon.org.
