Miles Murray Obituary

Miles James Murray

Henniker, NH - Miles Murray, of Henniker, NH, unexpectedly passed away on August 20, 2023. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, and friend who left this world far too soon. Born on June 8, 2004 in Concord, NH he was the first son of Kevin Murray and Amanda Perkins. He was also the first grandchild on both his mother and father's side of the family. He was adored from the day he was born and thrived as an only child, until 7 and 9 years later when his brothers Tylen and Eli were born. He loved his brothers with all of his heart.

Miles excelled at sports, especially basketball and volleyball, and he passed his love of sports onto his brothers, where he mentored them and was involved in their activities. He coached his youngest brother's third grade basketball team for his senior high school project. All the boys looked up to him and Miles loved coaching the team. He was a role model to all his brothers' friends and teammates. He continued to help coach the team the following year making trips back from college for numerous games and practices. Every opportunity Miles had, he poured into his brothers, his family, his friends, and his community.

Miles lived in Henniker his entire life and his connection was immeasurable. He attended Henniker Community School and John Stark High School where he was an honor student. He excelled at math, and received a Presidential Scholarship for his excellence in high school. He attended Plymouth State University where he made President's List each semester. During the year he spent at Plymouth, he instantly made great friends and referred to this past year as one of his funnest.

Miles had a zest for life and had big plans for his future. He was goal oriented and was pursuing a degree at the business school specializing in accounting. He even used what he learned in accounting to become the bookkeeper for his mother's business this past year. In addition, this summer Miles wanted to remain local in Henniker and worked as a landscaper. The owners commended his work ethic and his ever-present smile.

Miles loved to travel and enjoyed family vacations. Most recently he experienced New York City with his family prior to summer's end.

Miles had a passion for learning new things and was very adaptable. This past winter he learned to snowboard like his dad and this summer took surfing lessons with his mom; he quickly fell in love with both activities.

Miles had a lot of friends that he loved like family. One of his best friends, Jack Davis, wrote "...I love you, and I will never stop loving you. I will never forget your laugh, your sarcastic sense of humor, your intelligence, and drive to be great. I will forever watch and guide your brothers through life to the best of my ability, I promise..." These are the types of friendships Miles formed and some of his favorite times were gaming with friends, watching the Celtics, playing basketball, disc golf, skiing, and just chillin. He'll be remembered by the ones closest to him how he always walked tall, his easy-going nature, and the way his contagious smile could brighten any room.

Miles is predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Don Murray. He is survived by his parents, Kevin Murray and Amanda Perkins, his brothers Tylen Murray and Eli Murray, all of Henniker; his grandparents, Karen Murray, of Penacook, NH; Pamela Peterson, of Concord, NH; and Arthur "Chip" Perkins and Tricia Marden, of Concord, NH; his Aunt Erica Carpenter and Uncle Gregory Carpenter, and first cousins Liza Carpenter and Jake Carpenter, of Tampa, FL; Uncle Brandon Perkins, of Concord, NH; his Uncle Scott Murray, of Penacook, NH; Aunt Heather Murray, and first cousin Tanner Murray, both of Concord, NH; as well as numerous beloved friends.

Miles lived his life with his full heart, and will be desperately missed by all.

To honor Miles' memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on September 24th at 1:00pm at the Henniker Community School near the covered bridge. We invite anyone who knew Miles to attend and remember his wonderful life. We ask guests to dress casually and to bring your favorite photo of Miles to share. Seating will be limited so bring a chair or blanket if you would like.
