Millicent Huff Obituary

Millicent A. Corbett, aka, Millicent A. Huff, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. She was born in Queens, New York on the eighth of April, 1928; is truly an American original icon. A social advocate for justice, an entrepreneur, a community leader et al; while serving the Lord as an important "messenger of God" through her long term commitment to the Seventh Day Adventist Church; Millicent will be missed.

Millicent has received numerous awards, including Small Business Woman of the Year (CT.), awards received for her commitment to the Church and efforts towards "saving souls", as well as achieving many "first" ( first black owned licensed demolition company in the State of Connecticut . . . first African American City Council Member (West Haven)… first woman motor cycle police officer (New Haven)). She served as Secretary and member of the Greater New Haven Business and Professional Association. She also served as Secretary for the Seventh Day Adventist North Eastern Conference. She spent many years working for the Seventh Day Adventist's Personal Ministries Department and the Discover Corbett Bible Ministries School is named after her. Even up to her late senior years, she was continuing to impact young peoples lives, serving as a middle school teacher. Millicent was an Eastern Star and a notary.

Millicent leaves behind many friends, relatives, and loved ones, including: her daughter Andrea Scott and sons Dr. Louis Huff, Economist (Cynthia), Eugene Huff, and Duane Huff. She also leaves her grandchildren Elaine Kai Huff and Anthony Scott. In addition, she leaves a godson, Dr. Jonathan Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends as well. She is predeceased by her mother, Leahnora Reid; father, Cornelius Reid; sisters, Bertha Orange and Eleanor Steadwell; and brother, Lloyd Reid.
