Millicent Newton Obituary

Newton, Millicent
SCHAGHTICOKE - Millie Newton of Schaghticoke, N.Y., passed away November 3, 2025, with family by her side. She was 92 years old. Born on December 17, 1932, she was raised in North Adams, Mass., before marrying the love of her life, Carl, on December 8, 1951. They moved to Schaghticoke, where they would raise two sons on their farm, and eventually would spend the rest of their lives in the house they later built together.
Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Millie knew she was a force to be reckoned with. Beyond her love for her family and friends, she was an incredible baker and artist. She also worked for many years and retired from Hudson Valley Community College, a job that she loved. In her final act of kindness, Millie chose to donate her body to medical research as part of the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program.
Millie is deeply loved and missed. She is survived by her sons, John (Kit) Newton, and Bill Newton; her grandchildren, Jenna Newton and Justin Newton; her great-grandchildren, Riley and Chase; dear friend Sue Hurd; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carl; and her sister, Ella Mease.
Millie's family is deeply grateful for her home caregivers, Virginia and Delores, and for the care Millie received in her last days at Samaritan Hospital and with Hospice.
A celebration of Life will be held at the Easton Volunteer Fire Company, at 11804 NY-40, Schaghticoke, N.Y. 12154, on November 15, 2025, at noon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choosing in Millie's memory.
