Funeral services for former Milbank, SD, resident, Milo A. Anderson, age 90, of Watertown, SD, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank. The Reverend Colleen Natalie-Lees of the First Congregational Church in Milbank will officiate. Milo died on Thursday, April 27, 2006, in the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. and in the funeral home Monday one hour before services. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristina L. Eiden and Rhonda Anderson. Pallbearers will be Kenneth A. Anderson, Michael Eiden, John Gesswein, Arnie Hunt, Austin Hunt, and Norm Patterson. Burial will be in the Milbank City Cemetery with graveside military rites presented by the Birch-Miller American Legion Post #9 and the Grant County VFW Post #3486, Milbank. Milo was born on December 8, 1915, at Albee, SD, the son of Arthur and Agnes (Erickson) Anderson. He attended school in Albee and Revillo High School. Milo was united in marriage to Elfie Gesswein on Nov. 19, 1938, in Watertown. Following marriage, the couple moved to Detroit, MI. He was a veteran of WW II having served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 17, 1943, until his honorable discharge on April 20, 1946. Milo received the American Theater Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the Meritorius Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal. While he was overseas, his wife Elfie was a riveter in Detroit building airplanes. After his discharge, they returned to Grant County, SD, and farmed. In 1954 they moved back to Detroit where Milo worked at General Motors for twenty-five years as a truck driver hauling scrap iron. They moved back to Milbank in 1979 where they resided until moving to Watertown in 1989. He loved nature and animals. Milo especially loved the farm. He also enjoyed planting trees. Survivors include his wife, Elfie, Watertown; one son, Kenneth R. Anderson, Watertown; one grandson, Kenneth A. Anderson and wife Rhonda, Sioux Falls, SD; one granddaughter, Kristina L. Eiden and husband Michael, Rochester Hills, MI; three great grandchildren: Keegan and Morgan Anderson, Sioux Falls, and Kenley Eiden, Rochester Hills, MI. Milo was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Clyde.
