Milton P. Anthony, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, was called home on November 30, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on April 23, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia, he dedicated his life to his family, his work, and the farm he loved.
After graduating from Auburn University in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering, Milton enjoyed a 44-year career in the natural gas industry, retiring from Liberty Utilities in 2015. He proudly served eight years in the Army National Guard. His passion for agriculture led him to join the Muscogee County Farm Bureau in 1979, where he later served on the Board of Directors and as Vice President, advocating for local farmers and the future of agriculture.
Outside of work, he enjoyed tending to the farm, planting trees, and foxhunting with the Midland Foxhounds. On rainy days when he couldn’t be outside, he delighted in having his grandkids over to bake cakes.
Those who knew Milton remember his quiet kindness and generosity, always helping others without seeking recognition. He had a special gift for connecting with children, welcoming them to meet his horses and giving countless kids their first unforgettable ride.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; his daughters, Kristen Holt (Jay) and Kasey Frisbee (David); his grandchildren, Gray Holt, Maren Holt, Kara Frisbee, Jameson Frisbee, and Pate Frisbee; his siblings, Marvin Anthony (Jackie), Wayne Anthony (Frances Sue), Joyia Clayton (Ed), and Giff Anthony (Barbara); his cousins, Debra Kinard (Eric) and Jan Mixon (Bill); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lucille Anthony; his brothers, David Anthony and Clement Anthony; and his niece, Joy Culpepper.
Visitation will be held on December 5, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus, Georgia. A celebration of life will follow on December 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Pierce Chapel Methodist Church.
As we remember him, we’re reminded of his strong work ethic, his willingness to help anyone who needed it, and the way he shared what he loved, especially horses, with the people around him. His influence lives on in the many lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Milton Anthony Ag in the Classroom Memorial Scholarship through the Muscogee County Farm Bureau.
