Milton Joyner, Jr. aged 75 of Decatur, IL passed away peacefully in Decatur
Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL on May 14, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Milton was born in St. Louis, MO to Milton Joyner, Sr. and Annie Ree (Chriss)
Joyner on May 16, 1946. He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1965. He
married Barbara Bechtel on August 12, 1990.
Milton retired from Illinois Power in 2006 after 37 years of service.
He enjoyed watching and playing all types of sports. He coached a women's
softball team for many years. He started delivering food for Meals on Wheels
when he worked at Illinois Power and continued after he retired. He enjoyed
going to classic car shows and owned several classic cars throughout the years.
He was a member of the Crusin' Roosters Car Club.
Milton accepted Christ at an early age and was member of New Salem Baptist
Church. He loved serving God and served in the church wherever he was needed.
He was voted in as a Deacon in 2001. He served as the head of transportation, on
the Angel Food Ministries, the choir, Male Chorus, the finance committee, the
kitchen committee, the soup kitchen, security, and many other capacities within
the church.
Milton is survived by his wife, Barbara of 31 years, and children, Linda (Steven)
Joyner- Phillips, Gordon (Yvonne) Joyner, Penny (William) Lee, Phillip (Ashley)
Joyner, Neisha (Willie) Perry, Tamikae (James) Smalls, Tanya (Javaun) Davis,
Michael (fiancé, Michelle) Joyner, 27 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren,
and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, ex-wife, Barbara Maurer,
mother-in-law, Delores Bechtel, who also passed on May 14, in 2010.
He impacted a lot of people and considered himself a Living Testimony.
