Milton Michael Mandelin, 96, of Iron Belt, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Villa Maria Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hurley.

Milton was born on March 7, 1929, in Iron Belt to Arthur and Emma (Herlevi) Mandelin. He graduated from Iron Belt High School in 1947 and later moved to Milwaukee, where he worked for Allis-Chalmers. Milton was a dedicated member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, where he met the love of his life, Toini Luoma. They were married on September 3, 1966, and together raised two sons. Milton and Toini were active in their church and community, including involvement with the Finnish American Society of Milwaukee and the Nordic Council of Wisconsin. Milton also had a lifelong passion for bonsai and was a proud member of the Milwaukee Bonsai Society, considering the art form one of his greatest joys.

Upon retirement, Milton and Toini returned to northern Wisconsin and joined Trinity Lutheran Church.

Milton is survived by his sons, Arthur (Sharon) of Chicago, Illinois, and Paul (Cathleen) of Bradbury, California; his sister, Mavis Lahti; and his four beloved grandchildren: Lucian, Madalynn, Nathaniel, and Micah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Toini, in 2021; and his brothers, Roland, Bruce, and Clyde.

Milton will have a visitation from 10 a.m. to the time of his funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Jacob officiating at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ironwood on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Burial will take place in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Iron Belt.
