FORESTVILLE: Milton G. Schneider, 87, of Hopper Road, Forestville, died Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at his residence, following a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born in the Town of Villenova, on May 9, 1935, the son of the late Frank Schneider and Helen (Lawton) Ostrye.

Milton went to Grade School on Ball Hill, then school #9 in Sheridan and attended Dunkirk Industrial School until 8th grade. He founded Schneider Services, in Forestville, in 1976. Milton worked on the railroad as a welder and then started working for T.T. Grace Electric in Dunkirk on January 5, 1959 as an electrician. He worked as an electrician for the Chautauqua County Fair since 1957 and at one time worked for Gunther's Garage in Dunkirk.

Milton met his wife Dorothy while picking cucumbers at Ray Hall's farm on King Road and proposed to her on Christmas Day 1953. He operated a Beef Farm on Hopper Road since 1980, built his house & garage, collected classic cars (still has his 1948 Lincoln), raced stock cars at Arkwright Speedway and he has now fully retired on January 2, 2023.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Dorothy J. (White) Schneider of Forestville, whom he married on June 11, 1955, in the former St. John Bosco RC Church, Sheridan, a daughter, Sharon (Steve) Rinehart, two sons Frank (Debra) Schneider; Kirk (Lorry) Schneider, all of Forestville; two sisters, Ida Carter, of Florida; Victoria (Edward) Schafer, of Forestville; two brothers, Nicholas (Coralee) Ostrye, of Florida; and Michael Ostrye, of Brocton. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Amber Rinehart, Dawn (Tony) Manzella, Gretchen (Justin) Fronczak, Zach (Alicia) Schneider, Alana Schneider, eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters Agnes Wdowiasz and Theresa Ann Ostrye.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM from where Funeral Services will be held Monday morning at 11:30. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Forestville Fire Department, Inc., PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062.
