Mimi Hart Silver Liebenberg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Goldsboro on Jan. 1, 2024.
Mimi Hart Silver Liebenberg, 38, died peacefully with her devoted mother by her side on December 28, 2023. Mimi's tragic death arrived as a friend after five hundred and one days of suffering from the unimaginable effects of a traumatic brain injury.
Mimi was born by her mother, Sheila Farless Silver, on August 27, 1985 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2012, followed by a Master of Architecture at Spitzer School of Architecture in 2021.
Mimi is survived by her mother, Sheila Farless Silver; her father, John Wales Silver; her sister, Creecy Wales Silver Richardson-Creef (Drew), and their children, Winston Watkins and William Creecy Richardson; and her brother, John Winston Hinton Silver (Ella). Due to her premature and untimely death, Mimi is also survived by her grandmother, Delcie Suis Farless, and all of her aunts, uncles, first cousins and their families, with the exception of her late uncle and godfather, Winston "Winkie" Sprague Silver.
Though she excelled and succeeded at every adventure and challenge she faced, Mimi was so much more than a list of her accomplishments, her degrees, her creations, and a branch of her family tree. She constantly faced adversity with a charming smile and fearless gait; ever forward no matter the stumbles; laughing through pain and conflict; transmitting beauty and honesty from every delicate pore of her body; holding those around her accountable for their nonsense and defying the status quo around her which trapped too many victims of injustice and discrimination. Mimi's imperfections were her strength. Her vulnerability and charisma made every stranger a close friend. Fueled by love and ever the romantic, she radiated light, music, art, and poetry with a natural ease rarely seen or felt. Those who knew and loved her were never not in awe of the energy she showered the world with when she began again and again.
The loss of this precious life is a loss to the world. Mimi was never afraid to force those around her to sit with discomfort to discover and share a greater authenticity from within themselves. Alas, she was destined for a world much greater than the one she leaves behind. Her life and heartbreaking death will be mourned brightly, loudly, and perpetually, by her family and those who truly loved her-as she would have wanted. Her spirit is now forever free to swim every ocean, fly through every cloud, and reach heights that know no limitations.
A private celebration of Mimi's life will be held by her family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Mimi's family encourages everyone to make generous donations to ReNu Life in Goldsboro, NC, the facility that gave Mimi the most exquisite comfort, care, and compassion at the end of her life.
