Dorothy Nell Atkinson-Stegall, 68, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi. Born on June 27, 1957, in Vardaman, Calhoun County, Mississippi, Dorothy lived a life full of purpose and connection.
Dorothy dedicated much of her career as a driver for On Time Transportation, where she embraced her role with a spirit of service and reliability. Her driving was not just a profession; it was a means through which she connected with her community and touched the lives of many.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Curtis Stegall, Jr. Together they shared a bond that enriched their lives and inspired those around them. She was a proud mother, surviving by her son, Steven White, and her daughters, Shanda Atkinson and Candace White. Each of them carries forward the love, values, and lessons that Dorothy so lovingly imparted.
She was also cherished by her siblings: her brothers, Joe Lee Atkinson, Isaac Atkinson, and Kendall Atkinson, as well as her sisters, Shirley Clark, Olivia Pratt, Florinda (Nickii) Atkinson and Suzette Johnson. Together, they shared laughter, memories, and an unwavering support for one another that exemplified the strength of family.
The legacy of Dorothy Nell Atkinson-Stegall will be celebrated during a visitation on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Belle Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Mississippi. A Celebration of Life will follow on Sunday, March 1, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM, also at Belle Memorial Funeral Home, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance of a life so beautifully lived.
Dorothy’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew her.
