Mineko Jones

Mineko Jones, 91, Retired Inventory Control Technician, Wesley Medical Center, died Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

Mineko married her husband, Donald in 1958 when he was stationed with the Navy in Sasebo, Japan. They moved to California in 1960 and Mineko became a U.S. citizen in 1963. She was active in teaching Tole painting to the end of her life and was well known for her Japanese cooking and hospitality. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was a member of New Life Wichita.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2026; Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 23, 2026, both at Downing & Lahey East Mortuary. The memorial service will be live streamed. Click "Watch" below.

Preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Jones; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Jones.

Survived by one sister, Fusako Yamamoto of Kazusa-machi (Minamishimabara), Japan; sons, David (Leslie) Jones of Lynchburg, VA and Dean (Angie) Jones of Park City, KS; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shawn) Terry, Lillian (John) Lafond, Olivia (Jonathon) Abbott, Caroline (Philip) Mouring, Kathryn (Riley) Harter, Tyler Jones, and Zachary Jones; great-grandchildren, Tony and Mike Terry, Wilder and Theo Mouring.

A memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Service, 313 South Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
