Minerva Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joe Morris & Son Funeral Home on Apr. 9, 2025.
Minerva Ptomey Johnson
November 28, 1937 - April 7, 2025
Minerva Ptomey Johnson was born to AC and Gladys Ptomey in Snow Hill, Alabama on November 28, 1937. Minerva grew up and graduated high school, and she accepted Christ at an early age where she united with the New Virgin Baptist Church in Snow Hill. Minerva married her sweetheart, Luetee Johnson in 1957. They relocated to Pensacola, Florida where they united with the Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the Elder J. H. Kendrick. To this union seven children were born. Minerva worked and retired from Hilton Garden Inn of Pensacola, FL after 25 years of loyal and faithful service as Linen Care Manager. She then became the Caregiver to her husband, Luetee, during his chronic illness. Minerva and Luetee celebrated 52 years of marriage upon his death in 2009.
Minerva loved to be outdoors, planting, and tending to her bright garden of flowers. She particularly loved taking care of her family including her Jack Russell Terrier-mixed dog, Socks. All who knew Minerva knew she loved Socks, he brought much joy to her life in her later years.
God knew the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. Minerva gently closed her eyes and whispered, "PEACE BE THINE!!" She slept peacefully away on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Minerva was preceded in death by her husband, Luetee; two daughters, Sandra and Linda; her parents, AC and Gladys; a daughter-in-law, Jacqueline, and several siblings.
Minerva leaves to cherish her precious memories to her five surviving children,
Deacon Luetee (Fatenia) Johnson, Jr of Florida; Edward Johnson of Texas; Vera (Dominic) Prewitt of Florida; Marvin (Sheena) Johnson of Florida; Mari (Russell) Francis of North Carolina; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Louise (James) Crawford, and a brother, Nathaniel (Evelyn) Ptomey, both of Alabama; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other very special relatives, and close friends.
