Ming Wong of Belmont at age 89 passed away on April 29, 2022 from complications of Alzheimer disease.

Ming was born in China, moved to Hong Kong after the war and immigrated to the US in the late 1960s. He met his wife WaiChong Lee when they both worked at the same restaurant in Hong Kong and were married in 1953. He quickly learned the restaurant business and became a chef and after he immigrated to the Boston area, he was the head chef for the Joyce Chen Restaurant. Later he and his wife opened their own restaurant in Belmont, the Happy Palace.

Ming leaves behind his wife WaiChong of 69 years, his four children Manny Wong and wife MingShan Soong (daughter Stephanie), Mike Wong (children Mia, Kevin, Celia, Anna, Carson, and Isabella), Susen Wong and husband John Webber (children John and Brian), and Sauyin Wong-Lee and husband Waiman Lee (children Jason and KrisAnn and fiancé Mitchell Gohn). Great grandchildren Jayden Lee, Alina Lee Gohn and Tristen Lee Gohn. And younger siblings and many relatives in China and in US.

A gathering in his memory will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 15 between 11:30am to 1:00pm. Interment will be held privately with immediate family the following Tuesday.
