On September 25, 2025 Miss Minnie Revels age 97 of Maxton, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord. Miss Minnie was born on March 3, 1928 to the late Calvin Revels and Lula Deese Revels. Along with her parents, Miss Minnie was preceded in death by two sons, Roy Spaulding and Bobby Revels, and daughter Darlene Revels, four brothers: Tommy Revels, Johnny Revels, Calvin Revels Jr., and James Allen Revels, three sisters: Martha Revels, Gussie Oxendine, and Bessie Jacobs, two grandchildren: Sedrick Revels and Denise Spaulding.

Miss Minnie worked most of her life on the farm with her family. As the years past, Miss Minnie worked as a substitute teacher at Shoe Heel School in Maxton, North Carolina. She cared and loved the students and they loved her. As time went on, Miss Minnie took on odd jobs to support her daughter and made home improvements on her home. Miss Minnie enjoyed working outside in the flower gardens and vegetable garden. Miss Minnie spoke her mind, said how she felt, and kept moving on. Miss Minnie enjoyed cooking home cooked meals and her favorite to cook was collards.

Miss Minnie was the oldest resident in her community of McLeod Drive. Miss Minnie was the oldest member of her church, the mother of her church. When she was in good health, she never missed going to church. Miss Minnie was a lifelong member at Pleasant Grove Church in Rowland, NC for 75 years. She loved her church family and her paster, Preacher Johnny Emanuel. Miss Minnie saw the worst and best at Pleasant Grove Church, and she stood by her church. She had her two favorite preachers: Preacher Johnny and Preacher Jimmy Hunt.

Whenever Miss Minnie was asked "what was her secret to a long life?" she would say "I don't have a secret, I obeyed my mama and daddy and I loved the Lord,". Miss Minnie loved her family and though she didn't receive the love she deserved she didn't let nothing hinder her from enjoying life and living life to the fullest. She gave God the praise, and said that's between them and God.

Miss Minnie loved going for rides with her daughter, they would ride for hours. They would stop along the way to get something to eat or drink. Whenever Miss Minnie and Shelby drove through Miss Minnie's childhood home sites, Miss Minnie's face would light up like a bright shining star, remembering her childhood with her family.

Miss Minnie will be missed and remembered in her community and her church. Miss Minnie fought a good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

Miss Minnie leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Shelby, one granddaughter Ranesia Ragland (Antonia), special nieces: Mary Ann Smith and Sue Revels, Lee Ann Jenks, best friend Mrs. Mable Revels, Mr. Danny Hunt (a second son), grands, great-grands, family members, community friends, and her church family.
