Miriam E. Butler

RICHMOND, Ind. – Miriam E. Butler, age 93, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Friends Fellowship Community.
Born April 1, 1930, in Randolph County, Indiana, to the late Roger and Ruby Harper Stults, Miriam was a resident of this area most of her life. She graduated from Fountain City High School and Ball State University, earning a master's degree in education. She retired in 1992 from Richmond Community Schools after 21 years as a teacher and counselor at Test School. Miriam was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Jack (Carolyn) Bales, of Richmond, Indiana; daughter, Debby (Rick) Ahaus, of The Villages, Florida;; stepdaughter, Jane (Rodney) Lunsford, of Westfield, Indiana; stepson Robert (Marlies) Butler, of Urbana, Ohio; grandchildren, Jackie (Shane) Shroyer, of Fountain City, Indiana, Jon (Rachel) Bales of Richmond, Indiana, Craig Jenkins from Elmhurst, Illinois, Dave Jenkins of Denver,Colorado; great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; step great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Bales; second husband, Carl Butler; parents; brothers, Max Stults and Darryl Stults; sister, Charline Stults Knoll; stepdaughter, Kathy Butler Burns; and granddaughter, Breanna Bales.

A private funeral service for Miriam E. Butler will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
