Miriam Joy Durrant was born at home on a beautiful spring day on April 11, 2023, to her loving parents Scott and Hannah (Bowman) Durrant. She is the beloved youngest sister to her five siblings: Eliza (16), Truman (13), Vanessa (11), William (8), and Gideon (5). She was preceded in death by a miscarried baby in January 2025. Miriam passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025.

She is survived by her parents, Grandparents Alan and Holly Durrant of Lehi, Utah, Doug and Gail Bowman of Lawrenceville, Illinois, and a long list of doting aunts, uncles and cousins.

Miriam Joy, or Emi as she was nicknamed, was 8lbs 11oz and 21 inches of pure joy. She truly lived up to her name's sake. Her light and love is felt by all who know her. Her short life of 2 years was filled with curiosity, adventure, laughter, and love. Memories of her bright, beautiful blue eyes and toddler toothed smile will continue to bring us joy throughout our lives.

Miriam was a very happy, healthy and content little baby from the beginning. She loved to smile and snuggle her mom and dad as well as watch and laugh with her older siblings. As she grew, she became more and more independent. She started walking at 9 months to try and keep up with her very active older siblings who love and adore her.

Some of Emi's happiest moments are playing outside in the yard with her siblings and cousins. She loves riding her bike and scooter, playing on the swing, picking weeds and flowers to present to her mother, chasing neighborhood cats, and catching a ride on a motorcycle at her grandparents farm any chance she gets! She loves to play in the dirt but also wears fancy dresses, princess crowns, and shoes that are way too big for her.

Miriam has a goofy side to her too. Sometimes she wouldn't say a lot with words but her expression would say it all! She loves to make people happy and laugh and blow kisses as we walk out the door.

Music is an important part of Miriam's life. She loves to dance and sing! She would wake up singing in the mornings and continue randomly throughout the day in only a language she could understand. She especially loves to sing out in church and mimic the chorister. Watching her clasp her little hands together when it was time for prayer was precious and inspiring for her family.

Services for Miriam will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1984 N. Old Highway 41, Vincennes, IN 47591. Miriam Joy has the gift to love and to be loved. She has touched the hearts of all who know her. Her short, but full life was a precious gift to us all. Her presence will be deeply missed and her memories cherished forever. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Miriam and her family.
