Miriam Price Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lind Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 27, 2026.
Miriam C. Price, 99, a lifetime resident of the Town of Ellery, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Jamestown.

She was born June 9, 1926, a daughter of the late Irwin Casselman and Dorothy Seaborn Casselman Andersen, and was a 1944 graduate of the former Bemus Point High School.

Miriam worked at the former W.T. Grant from 1965 until it's closing in 1975. She then went to work at the F.W. Woolworth Co. at the Chautauqua Mall, retiring as floor supervisor in 1989.

A avid member of Bemus Point United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, Miriam also served as secretary for the Ellery Senior Citizens, was very active in the Bemus Point High School Alumni and was a Cub Scout leader when her son was young.

Miriam loved her family & friends and always being helpful. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially mowing and caring for her lawn. She possessed an immense love of basketball, be it high school, college (Duke) or professional, with her favorite player being Shaquille O'Neal.

One of Miriam's greatest enjoyments later in life was as she presented the Chuck & Irene Hallberg scholarships to graduating seniors from Maple Grove High School at the Chautauqua Institution awards night.

Surviving are two children, Gregory (Susie) Price of Bemus Point and Delores (Joe) Smith of Dayton, NY; three grandchildren, Larisa Price, Paul Price (Lyndsey Carlson), and Jennifer (Jason) Berg; great-grandchildren, Aleks Berg and Margo Price; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Niels Andersen; sisters, Martha Goodrich and Carol Casselman; and brothers, Vincent, Lawrence, Charles and Donald Casselman.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31st in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Pastor Tom Holland. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Bemus Point 50+ Alumni, c/o Jane Hautzinger, 4671 Pickard Rd., Dewittville, NY 14728; or to Bemus Point Methodist Church, 4954 Bemus-Ellery Rd., Bemus Point, NY 14712.
