On June 24, 2024 Miriam M. (Malone) Wallie, a faithful and dedicated servant of Jesus Christ, was peacefully called home. She died at the age of 93 years old. Miriam was known for her steadfast devotion to her Catholic faith and the day that she passed is a significant one. June 24th is one of the oldest feast days in the Catholic Church,an unusual feast day as it commemorates a birthday, that of St. John the Baptist. St. John was known for being the "brilliant burning light" who in any darkness could find the light of Christ. Miriam was our brilliant and burning light, teaching us that by believing in the light of Christ, all odds are surmountable. Not only did she believe in these words, she was a testimony to them. Miriam was born on August 25, 1930 to the late James J. and Sara T. (Lane) Malone. She grew up in Belmont as the youngest of three girls. Miriam was driven by her academics and excelled as a high honors student. She graduated from Emmanuel College with a BA in Education, received her MBA at the Harvard-Radcliffe Graduate School of Business and received her dual Masters degree at George Washington University. Miriam met her beloved husband, James H. Wallie from Colorado, at a Young Catholic Americans group in Boston. They married on her birthday and the very next
day they moved to Scarborough, England to begin their amazing life together. Miriam & Jim were always together, a force that grew stronger over the years, whether it was traveling the world, hosting family gatherings or serving those who needed it most, they were exemplary in their joint Catholic faith. Miriam's gift was her ability to adapt, learn and teach. She started her career as an early educator in Maryland before moving back to Boston and transitioning those gifts into a career within the male dominated business world. She joined Electronics Corporation of America (ECA) and advanced within the organization to the trusted role of Executive Assistant to the President. After retiring Miriam & Jim traveled extensively. They were very active bicyclists and skiers, spending winters in
Salt Lake City, Utah. They focused on family, faith and charity often including family members in their travel adventures, developing relationships with missionaries that they met on their travels and supporting education at their local parishes and alma maters. Miriam is predeceased by the love of her life, Jim Wallie, her best friends and sisters, the late Eileen P. (Malone) Hughes and the late Sylvia M. (Malone) Woodbury. Miriam is survived by her niece Judy Kaetzer, nephews Bob and Jim Woodbury, great nephew and nieces, great-great nephew and nieces and dedicated caregiver MaryAnn. Miriam was the embodiment of stability, she was pragmatic with her thinking and though she was extremely gifted she was enormously humble. Miriam brought curiosity, laughter and light wherever she went, her distinctive affable personality won the hearts of anyone she encountered. She will always be remembered for her empathetic nature, kind generosity, clever wit, boundless faith and graceful brilliance.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass in St. Peter's Church 100 Concord Ave., Cambridge, on Saturday morning June 29th at 10:00 AM.
