Misako Tomioka "Tomioka" Bannister

Misako Tomioka Bannister "Kay", 96, widow of the late Ottis Leon Bannister, died Friday, January 9, 2026, at Callie and John Rainey Hospice House.

She was born in Sasebo Japan and was the daughter of the late Toshiichi and Chiyo Hirayama Tomioka. She was a member of Belton Church of God.

She is survived by a brother-in-law Dean (Wendell) Bannister, nieces Dawn (Danny) Cothran and Lisa (Keith) Shaw, great nieces and nephew Kayla (Phillip) Hanks, Blake (Matraca) Shaw and Katelyn (Chris) Moss and 8 great-great nieces and nephews, Tripp, Jake, Dean and Henry Hanks, Bristol and Maxwell Shaw, Ava and Aiden Moss and a special friend Valerie Miller.

She came from a family of 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is preceded in death by brother-in-law G. Alfred Bannister and sister-in-law Nettie Bell Bannister.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00PM Sunday January 11, 2026, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Black officiating. She will be buried at the Garden of Memories.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 2:00PM until 2:45PM at Cox Funeral Home.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be made to Hospice of the Upstate or Belton Church of God.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Beyond Care and Providence Health Care for the care they provided through the years so she could be independent and remain at home. Also, a special thanks to hospice of the upstate and 4 center of AnMed.

The family will be at the home of Dean and Wendell Bannister 102 Briarwood Dr. Belton SC 29627.
