Mitchell Eick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home & Crematory - Holiday on Apr. 13, 2025.
Mitchell John Eick, 68, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on April 10th, 2025, from complications of acute myeloid leukemia.
Mitch was born on February 25th, 1957 and grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, the youngest son of deceased parents Jeanne (LaJoie) and Donald Eick. He attended elementary, middle, and high school in Maplewood but spent his last year of high school in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He attended Stockton State College in New Jersey. Mitch then moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida, where he worked for local manufacturing industries and specialized in toxic waste management.
In the late 1980s, Mitch became the unofficial stepfather to Michael and Tyler Fairley. For many years, he volunteered for the Cub and Boy Scouts and participated in many after-school sports activities.
Mitch loved cooking, gardening, bodybuilding, music, and reading and was a history buff, studying the American Revolutionary War. He was inquisitive; his family knew a book was always a good gift for Mitch. He also developed an interest in finance and the stock market and proved to be a successful investor.
In 2008, he met the love of his life, Donna Frawley, and in 2014 they married. They enjoyed their gym memberships, took up dancing, and traveled to Hawaii. Mitch continued to attend college and in retirement, he and Donna studied and practiced American Sign Language. Mitch has recently trained to work for the American Red Cross in the state of Florida as well as becoming involved in voter activities in his local county.
Mitch will be missed by his older siblings, sisters Catherine (spouse Thomas) Cardea and Eleanor (spouse Lois) Eick, and his brothers Gordon (spouse Priscilla) and predeceased brother Warren, as well as bonus children John and Amy Frawley; sisters-in-law Cindy Rogers and Jeannine Weinstein; as well as the Sunday coffee group that he and Donna attended.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
