Potter Funeral Home - WillimanticMitchell (Mitch) Harakaly, passed away October 30, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on November 1, 1963, in Ashford, CT to Theodore Harakaly Sr. and Arlene Harakaly, Mitch lived his young life in Ashford, with his three siblings Ted Jr., Carolyn and Katherine, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends nearby. He attended EO Smith High School and was remembered for his talent on the baseball field.
Mitch was a carpenter by trade and made his living working with his hands. He could fix or build anything. This affinity for being active and outdoors extended to his hobbies as well, as Mitch was an avid fisherman and enjoyed rockhounding trips to dig for crystals and Herkimer diamonds.
He leaves behind three adult children Calia (30), Jacob (28) and Juliana (24). When his children were young, he was an especially engaged father. His children have fond memories of him coaching soccer teams, swimming in the ocean for hours, building snowmen and taking fishing trips to Lake Bungee. He frequently carried a camcorder with him at birthday parties and holidays.
If you knew Mitch, you knew he had a gentle and sensitive soul. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them.
Mitch spent the recent years of his adult life in the Tampa, FL area, where he had friends to whom he meant so much, and he spent his final months near family in Connecticut.
Calling hours and service will be held at Potter’s Funeral Home, Willimantic, CT on November 29 from 11:00 to 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask for donations to the ALS United in CT or Hark ALS in Saint Petersburg, FL.
We would also like to give a special thank you everyone who donated in March of this year to help Mitch get home to Connecticut.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Mitch and the Harakaly Family.
