Mitzi Bailey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jeffers Funeral and Cremation Service - Greeneville on Jan. 20, 2026.
Mitzi Ann Belcher Bailey, age 76, of Greeneville, TN, passed away January 19, 2026, at Governors Bend Assisted Living in Erwin, TN. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Betty Bowman Belcher. She is survived by her son Travis Bailey, Mason, OH; daughter Anna Bailey, San Diego, CA; brothers Donny Belcher (Sandy) Greeneville; Mikey Belcher (Susan) Chuckey; Ricky Belcher (Amy) Johnson City and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mitzi graduated from Greeneville High School in 1967. She earned an A.S. degree from Steed College and worked as a medical secretary at Tacoma Hospital. She attended ETSU and received her B.S. degree in Secondary Education and taught science at Washington College Academy and David Crockett High School. Thereafter, she worked in the training department at NFS in Erwin. Upon earning her M.S. degree from Antioch University in Adult Education and Distance Learning, she transferred to Cincinnati, OH, where she was employed by various organizations as a Human Resources Training Manager specializing in learning and development, performance consulting, and career counseling. Mitzi was an avid gardener attaining her most cherished degree as a Certified Master Gardener.

She loved researching family ancestry and history, including participating in local genealogy society chapters and membership in Daughters of the American Revolution. She was always willing to help others in identifying their own family tree. Mitzi found great joy attending and participating in the Amis Mill American Indian Gathering where she connected with her Cherokee Indian spirit as "Little Deer." Her favorite pastime was driving her Miata with the top down listening to Pink Floyd music while searching for wildlife photography opportunities.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date.
