Michele "Mitzi" Hanson (Williams) was born on October 29, 1958 to Robert "Bob" and Vonda Williams of Ontario, Wisconsin. She spent her childhood in Elgin, Illinois before returning to Ontario for her high school years. She graduated from Brookwood High School in 1976. It was during high school she met the love of her life Gary Hanson. They were married on July 16, 1977 and moved to the La Crosse area.
On Friday, January 31, 2025, Mitzi unexpectedly passed away at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. Mitzi was devout in her faith to God and loved to sing during worship services. She shared her love of God with anyone she could and touched countless lives. For 43 years Mitzi worked for Gundersen Health System for various departments and spent the past 22 years with Gundersen Air before retiring in August of 2024.
Mitzi is survived by her husband of 47 years Gary, their children Heath (Krista) Hanson and Tara (Tony) Scarpone, and her grandchildren Alexander Hanson, Micah Hanson and Alexa Scarpone. She is also survived by her mother Vonda Williams, her siblings Lexus Williams and Tammy (Dave) Heffel, and her mother-in-law Mary Ellen Hanson. She is preceded in death by her father Bob Williams and her father in-law August Hanson.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, February 8th with visitation starting at 8:30AM. The service will be at the Onalaska Church of Christ, 1415 Well Street, Onalaska, Wisconsin. Following the service there will be refreshments and an opportunity to share memories of Mitzi. To honor Mitzi, we are asking you wear something purple for the service.
