Mona Evelyn Smith, 93, of Charleston, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Evelyn was born on June 9, 1930, in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late Jody and Mona Goodwin. "Granny" as most people knew her as loved family get togethers, cooking, and was famous for her Mexican cornbread. At Christmas she made sure to share containers of her fudge with everyone.
Evelyn loved the Lord and her church; she missed not being able to go to church when her health began to decline. She will be missed by her family, church family, and her dear friends.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lee Smith; her son, Michael Smith; her daughter, Marilyn Smith; grandson, Shane Smith; sister, Pat Elliott; and her brother, Eddie Goodwin.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Ronnie (Wilma) Smith; brother, Bruce (Susan) Goodwin; her granddaughter, Whitney (Frank) Miesler; grandsons, Chris (Angela) Smith, and Jason (Brandy) Smith; her great grandchildren, Harrison( Sasha) Smith, Madison (Clint) Davis, Evan Miesler, Lilah Miesler, Isabella Miesler, Skylar Miesler, and Gracie Smith; and her great great grandchildren, Luke Smith, Everett Smith, Lily Grace Smith, and was excited for the arrival of her great great granddaughter in August.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Signature Healthcare, and Hospice of Chattanooga for their wonderful care.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Disney officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm prior to the service. A graveside service is to follow at Boanerges Baptist Church Cemetery with Dusty Davis, Bill Abel, Bryan Keith, Dale Jordan, Frank Miesler, and Harrison Smith will be serving as pallbearers.
