Mrs. Mona Anita (York) Walters of Albany, Kentucky, formally of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky, having attained the age of 63 years, 6 months and 1 day. She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on Tuesday, June 12, 1962, the daughter of Willis & Ethel May (Hickman) York. She was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Stony Point Baptist Church. She enjoyed watching television and was an avid fan of the T.V show, "Murder She Wrote". Her love ran deep for animals, especially her fur-babies; Lady & Louise. She also took in every stray cat, and claimed it as her own. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Walters, whom she wed on Wednesday, February 4, 2009; son, Timothy Ray Godfrey; brothers, Lynn York, Andy York; sister, Penny (York) Hurst; and a brother-in-law, Bennie Hurst.

She is survived by her sons; Jackie (& Crystal) Spivey, Joseph "Joey" Godfrey (& Cynara McCormick), both of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Gregory (& Jamie) York of Albany, Kentucky; sister, Teresa York-Hollaway of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Mariah Spivey, Kayla Spivey, Alyssa Godfrey, Alia Godfrey, Brook Godfrey, Tyler Godfrey; great-grandchildren, Violet Spivey Reynolds, Zaiden Reynolds; special nieces and nephews, Katie Marie York, Nevaeh Brumley, Tiffany Fox, Leeanne Vess, Jasmine Brumley, Gage Brumley, and Robert Wright.

The funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 1:00 PM C.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of Campbell-New Funeral Home with Bro. Jim England officiating. Burial was in the Cave Springs Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were JP Tweedy, Shawn Catron, Greg York, Jackie Spivey, Christian Reynolds, and Cody Fox. In lieu of flowers, contributions appreciated to Campbell-New Funeral Home to help defray final expenses.
