Monica Brissette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ambrose Funeral Home - Bay City on Mar. 30, 2026.
Monica Marie Brissette

Bay City, Michigan

Monica Marie Brissette passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on December 5, 1925, to Hattie and Warren Piggott in Bay City, MI. She was blessed with 100 years of life, 71 of which were spent with her husband and best friend, Milton. They were sweetly dedicated to each other. Blessed by her daughter Barb's loving devotion and care over the last nine years, Monica was able to live out her life and pass peacefully in the house that Milton built for them.

Monica valued and enjoyed her career as a legal secretary after graduating from Bay City Central High School and attending Bay City Junior College. She worked for Dow Chemical company, then Lloyd Bartlett and Robert Johnson (known for gaining an acquittal for Jackie Robinson in a court martial), and later her brother John Piggott's firm.

One of Monica's favorite days of the year was the one on which she could first see crocuses peeking through the snow. She found happiness in gardening, birdwatching through their bay window, travel, a good book, healthy cooking, music (most recently Andrea Bocelli), and playing bridge. She felt blessed by wonderful friends and neighbors. Matters of great importance to her included staying apprised of current events, helping women and children in need, and donating to feed the hungry. She was a longtime member of Saint Mary's (Our Lady of Peace) parish and active in providing funeral dinners. Monica's strength and courage of spirit were unwavering. Her loving actions touched many. We can only guess how many thousands of prayers were said, candles lit, meals prepared, and visits were made by Monica to support of others.

Monica was devoted to her family throughout her life. She was uncompromising in her love and generosity as a granddaughter, niece, daughter, sister to Harry and John Piggott (d.1955; d.2008); wife to Milton (d.2018); mother to Mark Brissette (Nancy), Barb Brissette Draper, Jan Brissette (Albert Kraus); grandmother to Jenny Henry (Zach), Jeff Draper (Andrea), Andrew Brissette, John Brissette (Jess), Nina Kraus-Travers (Harry), Coleman Kraus, Albert Evan Kraus; and great-grandchildren Clare, Grayson, Sam, Caleb, Anna, Jax, Asher, and Emilia.

Monica had loving relationships with nieces and nephews including Tom Piggott (June), Ben Piggott, Luke Piggott, Holly Trine (Jim), Claudia Losch, Gary Moyses (Carol), Tom DeLoughary (Sandy), Jack Klass, Diann MacDonald (Jerry), and dear friend Colleen Fodo (Rich Smith).

Deceased, but never forgotten, are her Uncle Frank, Uncle Fred, Aunt Gertrude (whom Monica took care of as she aged); her cousins Edith, Loretta, and Grace; sisters-in-law Pearl Moyses (Cliff), June Reid (Bill), Geraldine DeLoughary (Tom) and Martha Wisniewski (Stan); nieces and nephews Sandy Klass and her daughter Julie, Paul DeLouchary, Linda Sauve (Jim), and JeanAnn Jacobs; and many other predeceased aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She held all these relationships dear and shared her fond memories of them through the family lines. The younger generations are heartened to know that she is reunited with them now in Heaven.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Peace Church food pantry, MyMichigan Hospice, or the Audubon Society.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Monica M. Brissette will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 11, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Marys Church. 607 E. South Union Street, Bay City, MI. Fr.
