Monica Louise Townsend

Monica Louise Townsend, 69, of Gladewater, TX passed away on August 18, 2023.  Monica was born in Longview, Texas to Edwin and Betty (Pope) Rowland on March 24, 1954.

Monica loved people and animals.  She was always willing to help anyone in need and quick with a smile to anyone that she crossed paths with.  You could say that she never met a stranger. Monica was hardworking but enjoyed having fun in her free time. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan that also enjoyed cruises, fishing, camping and country dancing.  The memories she leaves behind will be cherished always.

Monica is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Townsend; children, Tammy Renee Bunn, Rhonda Denyce Cook, Amanda Michelle Vallery and husband Chris, Ronald “Rocky” Dean Shields and wife Jessica and Jacob Tyler Shields; siblings, Patricia Rowland, Teri Witt, Ken Rowland, Brett Rowland and Sally Goode; grandchildren, Bryson Stanfield, Devon Stanfield, Justiss Pilgrim, Kinlee Cook, Ashton Vallery, Parker Shields and Landree Shields; great-grandchildren, Tatum, Sebi, Mavery and Madilyn; step-children, Daniel Townsend and wife Shalena, Josh Townsend and wife Dana, Jim Townsend and Audrey Roy; step-grandchildren; Kendra Townsend, Lucas Townsend, Emily Townsend, Mason Townsend, Landon Townsend, Paisely Townsend, Brody Townsend, and Dally Ray.

Monica is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Rowland and Betty Sue Wright Pope.

There will be a visitation Friday, August 25, 2023 from 6 to 8 in the evening at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater, Texas. Services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 in the chapel of Croley Funeral Home at 10 o’clock in the morning.
