Morgen N. Jacobs Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
Morgen Jacobs wasn''t sure what he wanted to do when he graduated from high school _ until the Sept. 11 terror attacks led him to choose the Army. His parents tried to dissuade him, but he wouldn''t budge. After Jacobs was killed in Iraq, "his recruiter called and was in tears, saying he wished it could have been him instead," said Todd Jacobs, the soldier''s father. "I said, `You didn''t recruit Morgen; Morgen recruited the Army. Morgen chose this path because he was a patriot, and he loved this country to death and he wanted to protect all of us.''" The 20-year-old from Santa Cruz, Calif., died Oct. 7 after an explosive detonated near his vehicle in Aaliyah, Iraq. He was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany. An avid reggae fan, the soldier loved mountain biking, softball, biking, golf and skimboarding. Growing up, he could often be found working on model airplanes and ships or building with his Legos. "He wasn''t political," his father said. "I don''t even know if he knew who''s running for president right now. It was all about country and fighting for freedom."

To the Jacobs Family - My prayer is that this poem I wrote will comfort you. It is: FALLEN HEROES - From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man. I know some were against it but God knows what is best. Since the day He took me home I've had perfect rest. Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold. Now I'm serving others including saints of old. I know some still have anger about the way I died yet God and I both have seen the many tears you've cried. He is a God of comfort whose love will never cease. Give your feelings to Him and He will give you peace. As difficult as it may be please don't hold a grudge. Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge. Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise the Lord will reunite us together in the skies. So don't give up my friends my memory is still alive. Put your trust in the Lord and I know you will survive.
Thank you Morgen for your service.

To The Family: I have never met a soldier that did not want American's to enjoy life and their freedoms on any given day. Likewise, I know that your family will never replace the loss of 'our' hero Spc. Morgen Jacobs and today is a time for me to let you know, that I am grateful and humbled by his bravery. I will do my part to preserve our American freedoms and I will pray that you will allow God to give you comfort as you make it through each day. My prayers for our leaders and our country are to include regaining a moral grounding, much like the guards pledge that walk the grounds of the unknown soldier. With love and humble appreciation!

Hi Morgen, Today is Memorial day, I am thinking of you as I do often. I know you are in a place where you are helping others, as you did here on earth! Morgen my I miss your face, your smile, you were part of my life when I believed that bad things could never happen to good people, but that time has passed and now there is a hole where my innocence dances around in shoes that are too tight, and a heart that is too heavy. Today I honer you Morgen and all your brothers that stand before you stripped of their bodies but not there souls. I see you saying, welcome brother, you made it home. I Love you Morgen, We all do.

This nation must be forever thankful that it produces young men like Morgen. He had the same mental fortitude to stand up for what is right like so many did before him.
I myself served over 20 years in the military and grew up in Santa Cruz. I was a helicopter crewman and flew many times in harms way so rest in peace Morgen Jacobs. God bless you, your family and our nation.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Morgen, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. Our son, Morgen K. Doler, is named in honor of Morgen N. Jacobs.

Dear Jacobs family,

My name is Barbara Doler. I am the wife of Ken Doler. Ken had the blessing of knowing Morgen when he was a small child. His best memories of Morgen are days at the beach. He tells me that Morgen was a very sweet child with a great sense of humor. Until last winter, Ken had not known that Morgen had grown up to be a brave soldier. Naturally, we are proud of Morgen, and all of our soldiers.

Last winter, we received the news that Morgen had sacrificed his life while serving our country. During that time we also learned that we were going to have a child. It will be a boy and he is due any day! We are naming him Morgen, in honor of the very much loved Morgen Jacobs.

We promise to pass the legacy of Morgen Jacobs to our son. We will not only teach him why he died but we will teach him how he lived.
We hope that knowing this, may give you some comfort.

Sincerely,
Barbara Doler.

GOD BLESS THIS YOUNG MAN

August 13, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend (KIA on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Thank you

Dedicated to soldiers and their loved ones

Those who have laid in fox holes, carried guns, marched for hours,
For those who have had cold sleepless nights, endless days of discomfort,
For those who have endured the agony of war for my sake.
Thank you.
For those who have gently kissed a loved one goodbye,
and with a tear looked back for a last time,
For those who have found courage to carry the sword of liberty,
For those who have flown with the eagle,
For those who have landed on foreign soil,
to take freedom to other countries while keeping
freedom in ours,
Thank you.
For those who have lost limbs, lifes and loved ones,
For those who have lost friends, sisters ,brothers, mothers and fathers,
For those who have sacrificed and gave their all for freedom's sake.
Thank you.
For those who have found the courage to stand,
For those who have reached out a hand for their fallen comrade.
For those who give freedom to strangers ,and a hope for peace.
For those who sacrifice all they love, and pay the price for freedom.
Thank you."

Dedicated to the mother
Rose Path

Momma laid soft petals at my feet,
And whispered a prayer that mothers pray,
Soft as silk,
Covering her seeds like a warm quilt,
A rose paves my way.

On the cross a rose was laid,
With tears and blood the world was saved,
In that blood my heart was bathed,
There is a rose that will never wilt,
He covers His seeds with petals of silk.

Roses are a gift from God,
They line the road where angels trod,
They are in God's hand ,
He holds them close,
For He planted each seed,
That grew a rose,

Roses are a gift God has gave,
With the petals a road is paved,
On the cross a rose was laid,
And with a rose the world is saved.

The thorn of the rose made the crown,
The silken petals made the King a gown,
There is a beautiful flower I've found.
The seed of the rose was planted by God,
The rose lines the path that angels trod.

Momma laid soft petals at my feet,
And whispered a prayer that mothers pray,
Soft as silk,
Covering her seeds like a warm quilt,
A rose paves my way.

Where angels gather

There is a unmarked grave in babyland,
God rocks the cradle with His hand,
Angels gather there I know,
Taking home the little soul,

There is a marker in the soldier's grave,
It tells where a brave man lays,
Angels gather there I know,
Carrying home the brave soul,

Angels gather here I feel,
Wiping the tear when we lose loved ones dear,
When love is taken and the cold winter wind starts to blow,
Angels gather to carry the soul.

There is a garden in heaven above,
Where angels gather with those that we love,
Wherever the heart is,and our loved ones go,
Angels gather and carry their soul.

Somewhere beyond the gates

Someday I'll stand,
at the gates of heaven,
Where a rose path leads,
that I follow while I'm living,
A rose was given.
And now waits,
Somewhere in heaven.
beyond the gates.

There is a garden.
Where all can find pardon,
Where all can be forgiven.
Healing all heartaches.
Somewhere in heaven,
beyond the gates.

I am walking the path,
that angels have trod,
Until at last I see the face of God,

To be His servant while I am living,
To hold the rose,
that He has given.
I know that He patiently waits,
Somewhere beyond the gates.
