Morrell George Lispcome

Today, we gather with heavy hearts, but also with deep gratitude, to celebrate the life of Morrell "George" Lispcome-a man whose journey was rich in faith, family, love, and quiet strength. On Monday, January 5th, 2026 Morrell was called home to be with the Lord. While we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he has entered into eternal rest.
George, as he was affectionately known was born on September 30, 1936, in Saint Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, to Adoria and Zephinah Lispcome. He was raised in a loving home, surrounded by family and grounded in a strong spiritual life. Those early years shaped the man he would become-one rooted in faith, wisdom, and devotion to those he loved. George never met a stranger!
Later in life, George migrated first to Canada and then ultimately to the United States, where he settled in Hartford, Connecticut. There, he built a life of purpose and stability, beginning a long career at Society for Savings. Though he was far from his birthplace, Jamaica never left his heart. It lived on in his stories, his values, and the lessons he passed down.
In 1973, George met the love of his life, Helen Lee Pearson. What began as a friendship grew into a lifelong partnership; they were joined in holy matrimony in July 2002. Their marriage was one of companionship, loyalty, and deep affection. Though they did not have children of their own, George was a devoted uncle, who poured himself into the lives of his nieces and nephews, particularly Tracy (Wells) during her formative years.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Helen, his brother Donald Lispcome (Sara), and two sisters Hermine "Misty" Linton and Gladys Lispcome, a sister in law, Audrey Hunter (Glenn), and a host of nieces and nephews whose lives are forever enriched by his love. He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph, Hubert, Frank and John and sister Mabel Langriford.
His legacy is found not only in where he came from or what he accomplished, but in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
May he rest in eternal harmony in the house of the Lord.
