Morris Bush Obituary

MORRIS BUSH
September 21, 1940 ˜ November
7, 2025

Morris Allen Bush, born on September 21, 1940, in Camas, Washington, to Galen and Ella Bush, lived a full and generous life that spanned 85 years. He passed away on November 7, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington, surrounded by family.

From a young age, Morris had a knack for building. His mother liked to say that as a baby, he teethed on a hammer - a sign of things to come. As a boy, he was always constructing something, from backyard playhouses, a family garage, and animal playpens.

After graduating from Battle Ground High School in 1958, Morris attended Clark College before serving two years in the U.S. Army. Upon returning home, he entered the building field and founded Morris Bush Construction in 1960. A decade later, he established Taseca Homes, which went on to build thousands of homes throughout the Vancouver area. Deeply involved in his industry, Morris was instrumental in forming the Homebuilders Association of Southwest Washington (now the BIA of Clark County) and served as its President. He also helped launch the Clark County Parade of Homes in 1974, which continues today.

Morris found great joy in the outdoors hiking, backpacking, fishing and especially cherished the many trips he took with friends and family over the years. Morris had a lifelong love of animals. He kept an aviary filled with rare and beautiful birds, raised koi fish, and shared his home with many beloved dogs over the years. His passion for koi led him to serve as President of the local Northwest Koi and Goldfish Club.

Morris married Suzanne Ahlberg (Burdick) in 1965, and together they had three children: Mark Bush, Michael Bush, and Kristine (Bush) Cloyes. In 1973, Morris met Jeanie Lahnert (Bush), who would become his lifelong love and partner. They married on January 6, 1974, and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. Their family grew to include her sons, Dan (Bush) and Rick (Shulenbarger) who Morris embraced wholeheartedly and loved as his own.

Morris and Jeanie are members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He contributed to church projects over the years, including the Meadow Glade Adventist School in Battle Ground.

Morris is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanie Bush; his sister, Beverly Kerras; his children and grandchildren: Mark (Michelle) Bush and children Andrew (Stephanie) Kerle, Elizabeth (Calvin) Kukert, Brandon (Haylea) Bush, Jacob Bush, and Joseph Bush; Michael (Amy) Bush and children Lucas Bush and Sabrina Bush; Rick Shulenbarger; Dan (Shawn) Bush and children Danielle (J.R.) Peck, Derrick Bush, and Darren Bush; Kristine Cloyes and children Katrina Cloyes and Karissa Cloyes; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 1 p.m. at Adventist Community Church, 9711 NE St. Johns Road, Vancouver. An online livestream option will also be available.

Yesterday

What a kind and gentle man. I will always cherish getting to have our 25th wedding Anniversary party at the home on 50th avenue. The yard was always carefully manicured and the ponds and fountains beautiful. As a teacher, I appreciated getting to come as a field trip to enjoy his collection of birds and koi fish. His generous spirit and quick wit will be missed. May your family take comfort in the God he served and the many, many memories he has left you with.
Sincerely, Dave & Kelly Eldred
