Morris R. Dimmer, age 73, of
West Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Bethany on 42nd.
He was born on January 24, 1952, to Lawrence "Coopie" and Verna Dimmer. Morris grew up on the family farm near Alice, ND, as the youngest of six children – sharing that distinction with his twin sister and lifelong partner in mischief, Marla, his beloved "womb-mate".
Morris graduated from Buffalo High School before attending the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton. While there, he was a proud member of Delta Psi Omega and earned an associate's degree in diesel maintenance. Following his graduation, Morris moved to Galveston, Texas, where he worked as a diesel mechanic on a ship. Morris later returned to Fargo where he began a long and dedicated career at SuperValu. He worked there for 30 years, serving as a warehouse supervisor until his retirement.
On May 20, 1978, Morris married the love of his life, Sharen Ellenson. Together they built a home full of love, laughter, and family. Together they raised three children, daughter Kimberley, and twin sons, Michael and Matthew.
Morris was a gifted storyteller. He could dish out a smart remark with a twinkle in his eye – and take on just as well. He bowled in men's and mixed leagues for many years and had a passion for motorcycles, proudly owning a few in his day – including a memorable yellow Honda Goldwing that perfectly matched his canary yellow golf cart. He was often spotted cruising around Mapleton Golf course and visible from the interstate. A longtime card player, Morris especially loved a good game of Pinochle. He enjoyed trips to Hankinson to test his luck and was a devoted NDSU Bison football fan, holding season tickets for years and rarely missing a game.
He also took great pride in his cherry red 1985 Chevy Silverado pickup, which he had completely refinished inside and out. When it was freshly washed, it gleamed like new, turning heads wherever he went.
Morris was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharen; grandson Daniel; his parents-in-law Curtis and Lois Ellenson; sisters Janice Scheuring and Rosemary Coleman; brother-in-law John Coleman; and brothers-in-law Steve Hogen and Jerry Hannestad, along with his grandparents and many dear aunts and uncles.
Morris is survived by his children: Kimberley (Dan) Beach of Moorhead, MN; Michael (Alicia) Dimmer of Fredonia, WI; and Matthew (Amanda) Dimmer of
West Fargo, ND; his beloved grandchildren: Brenna, Joshua, ElleAnna, Mason, Taylor, Brooklyn and Gabriel; siblings: Paul (Kathy) Dimmer of Wahpeton, ND; Laura (Bruce) Larson of Harwood, ND; and twin sister Marla (Gary) Otterness of
West Fargo, ND; brother-in-law Ben Scheuring of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law Sandi Hannestad of
West Fargo, ND; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sharlene and Gary Nelson, also of
West Fargo, ND; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
