Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tyndall Funeral Home - Mount Olive on Dec. 22, 2025.
Moses Gregg King, known locally as simply Gregg King, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh.
Gregg, 68, was a life-long resident of the Suttontown area of Sampson County. HIs life's work was as varied as he was. He had been a long distance truck driver, had been a farmer, and had been employed with his parents at Piggly Wiggly in Faison and Mount Olive, and with Cresent Foods. He was a many of many talents including wood working, metal crafting, and had an engineering facet about him that allowed him to create and build things. He simplly "lived life," and while some of his endeavors were not glamorous, he was a good guy, had an entertaining spirit, loved to tell jokes and stories, making those listening to decide for themselves whether or not they were true. He was raised in a Christian home, with Goshen Pentecostal Holiness Church, now Goshen New Life Church, being his home church.
Gregg leaves behind his mother, Dean Best King, of the Suttontown area, Faison; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Brandi K. King of Suttontown; three grandchildren, Chase King and wife, Elizabeth Lee King, Raven King, and Adison King; and a great-grandson, Brantley King, all of the Suttontown area.
He was preceded in death by a son, Spencer Allen King; his father, Moses Edmond King; and two young sisters, Deborah Dean King and Janet Carol King.
The King family, their friends, and community will gather at Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Wednesday, Decmeber 24, for a 10:00 a.m. service of remembrance, officiated by the Rev. Stanley King, after which Gregg's remains will be placed in the mausoleum beside his son. The famliy will receive friends at the conclusion of the service at the cemetery, and at other times at the home of his mother, Mrs. Moses King.
