Mother Vera M. Woods entered this earthly garden on May 2, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee to James (Jim) Wells and Rosa L. Wells. She was called to God’s heavenly garden on December 1, 2023. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and loved and served the Lord with her whole heart.
Mother Vera received her education in the Metro Nashville School and served as a dedicated nurse at Nashville Meharry Hubbard Hospital.
Mother Vera leaves behind to cherish her memories, children Raymond Woods Jr, Reverend Wanda L. Garrett, and Sharron (Simeon) Raines; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren; brother Ernest (Rita) Wells and sister Betty Brevard; host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mother Vera is preceded in death by father and mother James (Jim) Wells and Rosa L. Wells, daughter Joyce A. Woods, grandson Laray D. Woods and 14 brothers and sisters.
Mother Vera’s life was dedicated to doing the will of God. She was a warm kindhearted woman of God and always had words of encouragement and a testimony of the goodness of God. Vera’s unexpected death on December 1, 2023, at the age of 84 took us all by surprised. But we know that God looked over in his heavenly garden and needed another beautiful rose, so he plucked Vera out of this earthly garden and place her in heaven’s garden to flourish forever.
