Mrs. Debra Ware Cauthen, age 75, of Thomaston, died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Cauthen was born September 11, 1950, in Woodbury, Georgia, a daughter of the late Solon W. Ware and the late Parniece Hilley Ware. She was a 1968 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute, and later attended Georgia College in Milledgeville. Most of her career she worked in Griffin, retiring as an insurance agent at Millennium of Griffin Insurance. She was active in the Griffin Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of Griffin, the Griffin May Fling event, and the American Business Women's Association. She he had a knack for creativity and decoration, which was evident by her making of Christmas bows and decorating Christmas trees. As an active member of Mountain View Baptist Church, she was instrumental with the designing of costumes for the annual Easter play.
Mrs. Cauthen is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Tim) Wheeless of Thomaston; her grandchildren, Evelyn, Dashel, Hudson, Margaret, and Josiah; her nieces, Paige (Jonathan) Buice of Forsyth; Marsha (Derik) Walker of Griffin; Jessica (Loren) Thomka of Meansville; and several great nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Cauthen, her sister, Sally Ware Cumbie, and her niece, Kristina Cauthen.
A memorial service for Mrs. Cauthen will be held on Sunday, September 21, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Dr. Rex King officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, on Sunday, at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Mrs. Cauthen's memory to Mountain View Baptist Church.
