Mrs. Etta Louise Tyler Coleman entered this life to the delight of her parents, the late Edmond Tyler Sr., and Charlie Mae Merriwether Tyler.  She entered into holy matrimony with Rev. Toliver Coleman Jr., on June 6, 1953.   They were blessed with marriage that spanned fifty-three years, and raise six children.

A native Clarksvillian, Mrs. Coleman attended the Clarksville Montgomery County Schools and was a member of Burt High School Class of 1954.

Mrs. Coleman accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Spring Creek.   She would later move here membership to Mt. Nebo Baptist Church where her husband pastored.

Mrs. Coleman was a devoted wife, mother, and friend.   She supported her husband, Rev. Toliver Coleman, Jr., in ministry for 57 years.  Together they served God’s people with love, and compassion, counseling and witnessing to the lost. Throughout many years of service, she was involved in various aspects of ministry:  The Mass Choir, Mothers’ Board, Missionary Society, and Sunday School Teacher.

She was an active member of the Ministers, Deacons, and Members Wives Auxiliary of Cumberland River South Kentucky Middle Tennessee Baptist District Association, Clarksville Ministers Wives Union and Senior Women’s Auxiliary.

All who knew and loved Mrs. Coleman will sorely miss her presence and her kind and loving spirit.  We are eternally grateful for the time God has given us to spend with our beloved Mother and friend, but most of all we know that she has gone to the place God has prepared for her. Her journey spanned a period of 88 years filled with love and happiness, pains and suffering, joy and sadness, but on May 13th 2024, she received the Master’s promise, “and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Toliver Coleman, Jr.; son, Rev. Toliver Coleman III, daughter, Carolyn Lacy; parents: Edmond Tyler and Charlie Mae Merriwether Tyler; brothers and sisters:   Edmond Tyler, Jr., Robert Tyler, Catherine Tyler, Elizabeth Tyler Stewart, Juanita Tyler Allen, Beatrice Tyler McKeage, Clara Tyler Jarrell and Marcella Tyler Coleman.

She leaves to cherish precious memories her children: Paul (Polly) Coleman, Topeka, KS, Alfreda Coleman West, Evansville, IN, Jackie Caceres, Winter Haven, FL, Donna (Walter) Jones, Antioch, TN; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
