Edna Catherine (Mckelvey) Evans, was born in Greenville, S.C. on September 17,1933, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary McKelvey.
At an early age Catherine confessed her love for Christ at Bruton Temple Baptist Church in Greenville, S.C. later in life Catherine united in marriage to Eddie Evans where they lived in Chicago, Illinois.
Catherine was a devoted member of Tiberia Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev, Leroy McCellan, where she was a devoted member, until her health failed her. Although Catherine and Eddie were never blessed with children, she was a “Mother” to many’.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father Edward and Mary Mckelvey, two brothers Edward R. Mckelvey Jr. and Willie R. Mckelvey, and three sisters Mary Ann Bryant, Polly Stokes and Octavia Allen and a Stepson Eddie Evans Jr.
She is survived by one brother Albert Lee Mckelvey and two sisters-in-laws Mildred Mckelvey of Greenville, S.C., and Dorothy Mckelvey of Salinas, California and one aunt, Mrs. Mary (Mckelvey) Wilson Welch of Nashville, Tennessee, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside Service: Saturday, January 3, 2026, 11:00am, at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
