Charles E. Green, Jr., a retired Soldier of 24 years, devoted husband, and cherished father, has taken his last knee and given his last set of orders for Mission Eternal Rest on 10 September 2025.

Charles E. Green Jr. lived a life defined by quiet strength, honor, and unwavering purpose. To his wife and children, he was the center of their universe, their hero in uniform and out. To his family and friends, he was a pillar of strength who only desired the best for everyone. His passing leaves a void that can only be filled by the memories of his powerful spirit and compassionate heart.

Born on November 23, 1964, in Vidalia, Ga. Charles was a man of deep character whose impact far exceeded the short 60 years he was given. A college graduate, a proud veteran, a devoted husband, loving father, supportive brother, and loyal friend. Charles carried each title with grace and dedication.

From his early days, Charles stood out as a natural leader and talented athlete. After graduating from high school, Charles chose a path of service, enlisting in the Army, where he served his country with distinction and honor. His decision to join the Army was a testament to his character. Charles lived his promising football talents down and took on a life of selfless service and honor. During his distinguished 24-year military career, Charles served with unwavering bravery, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant.

While serving in the military for 24 years, Charles pursued higher education, earning a degree from the University of Maryland and a degree in Business Management from Summit University, a testament to his dedication and perseverance. Charles met the love of his life, Wendy at the beginning of his career and together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter. Their marriage of 35 years was a testament to their deep and loving partnership. A shared life built on mutual respect and unwavering support.

Prior to retirement, Charles was selected to the United States Army Sergeant Major Course. However, he chose to take a knee after several deployments, serving in both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. His time in uniform reflected who he truly was; selfless, courageous, and committed to something greater than himself. While his military service was a defining chapter of his life, it was his role with his family and friends that truly illuminated his heart. After a long deployment, he hung up his uniform and, in a new season of life, embraced the quieter duties of life.

Charles was a great father; he selflessly stepped up and raised his children for success. He was the unwavering guide who taught them strength through example, the tireless supporter at every milestone, the quiet but firm comfort in times of trouble. Charles could easily transition from commanding troops to helping with homework, cooking dinner, from intense drills to teaching a child how to fish, all with the same focused dedication and love. He will be remembered not only for the values his military service instilled in him—respect, honesty, and preparedness—but for his integrity, his sense of humor, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.

Although retired from the military, Charles never stopped serving others. Whether mentoring young men, volunteering in the community, or simply being a reliable presence for his loved ones, he lived his life with purpose and compassion. He was the kind of person who would show up — for a friend in need, for a challenge worth facing, or for a cause worth defending.

Charles will be remembered for his bright smile, warm laughter, his integrity, and the quiet confidence that made people feel safe around him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, the family who loved him dearly, and the many who called him a friend.

Charles is preceded in death by his grandfather, Calvin Green, grandmother, Frankie Green, father, Charles Green Sr., his mother, Sarah Nell Lane, his son, Charles Anthony Green III, and brother-in-law, Lonnie Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Green, his children, Martez Daniels, Marcus Daniels, Shaniece Daniels, and Randy Daniels. His daddy, Marvin Lane (Jackie), his siblings, Cedric Green (Evelyn), Charleen Green Norfleet (Marshall), Kim Ruff Moore (Jeff), Shandra “Missy” Owens (Kareem), Marcy Lane, Dr. Sarah Lane, Cathy Greene-Middleton, and Kartel Lane, mother-in-law, Daisy Daniels, sister-in-law’s, Jackie Jones, Brenda Daniels Jarvis, and Carla Daniels, cousin-brother, Donnell Lamb, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, his fur babies, Jag and Bentley, a wide community of friends, fellow veterans, mentors, and teammates who celebrate the light he brought into the world.

Though his journey ended too soon, Charles E. Green’s life was nothing short of remarkable — one that will be celebrated well and remembered always. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 12:00 on 20 September 2025, at Solomon Tabernacle Baptist Church.
