Murdock Cyril Carson, age 89, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2023 , in Biloxi, Mississippi. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who touched the lives of many.
Murdock was married for 71 years to his childhood sweetheart, Ono Mae “Boots” (Bangs) Carson. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Chevalier, DD-805 Destroyer. Many years later, he retired from Pan American Airlines. He was the owner of Carson’s Office Furniture and Supply in Mobile, Alabama for 30 years. He and Boots moved back to Biloxi, Mississippi in 2000 where they built their dream home.
Murdock enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends at Dauphin Island, Alabama. This same love for fishing has been passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served as Past Master at the Springhill Masonic Lodge. He has been a member of Poplar Head Methodist Church for many years and was active in the Men’s Bible Study. He loved music and playing his guitar.
Murdock was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gracie Carson; sister, Myron Rutledge; and 2 grandsons, Christopher Holderfield and Matthew Englund.
He is survived by his wife, Ono “Boots” Carson; five children, Mike Carson (Kay), Brenda Lawless, (Derek), Ka Kinman (Robert), Murdock Cyril Carson, Jr., (Danice), and Gina Englund (Bruce); two sisters, Raebell Broadus and Janiece Gipson; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and close friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Carson Family would like to thank the nursing staff and caregivers at Kare In Home/Vital Care that took such great care of Mr. Carson, with special mention to Christine Ladner and Tracy Ladner. A heartfelt thanks to Jena Manteufel who tirelessly loved and cared for him over the last year and a half.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 1, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Poplar Head Methodist Church, 13200 Poplar Head Dr., Saucier, MS, with services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to be made to Poplar Head Methodist Church, 13200 Poplar Head Drive, Saucier, MS 39574.
