Muriel Elizabeth Gregg

Muriel Elizabeth Gregg (née Salazar), age 74, passed away on November 13, 2025, in Hayward, California.

Born on February 1, 1951, in LA County, Muriel was the daughter of Angela Pino and Armando Salazar. Muriel spent her early years going back and forth between the states and visiting family in El Salvador. Angela settled down and raised Muriel in San Francisco and later married Otto Schultz, who became Muriel's loving stepfather. Muriel grew up in the Marina and attended St. Vincent de Paul Elementary, Marina Junior High, and Galileo High School. As a teenager and young adult, Muriel loved football and attending both high school games as well as seeing the 49ers at Kezar Stadium. Muriel was known for her loud singing voice, her love of sports, her no-nonsense attitude, her enthusiasm for holiday decorations and baking, her fondness for true-crime TV, and her strong Catholic faith.

Muriel was married to her loving husband, Richard Gregg, for 50 years. Together they built a life centered around their children and later their grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Matthew Gregg; her daughter, Heather Steele; her son-in-law, Jeremy Steele; and her cherished grandsons, Patrick and Jonah Steele. Muriel's greatest joy in life was finding out she would be a Grandma and she loved spending time with Patrick and Jonah. She is preceded in death by her mother, Angela Schultz; her stepfather, Otto Schultz; and her grandmother, Maria Teresa Pino.

Her memory will always be a comfort to those who knew and loved her. A Funeral Mass will be held on December 4, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Bede Catholic Church, 26950 Patrick Ave, Hayward. Following the Mass, there will be a graveside service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located at 26320 Mission Blvd, Hayward.
