Muriel Leona Pendelton

Muriel Leona (Hines) Pendelton, 77, passed away peacefully at Ellis Hospital on Friday, June 30, 2023 with family by her side. Born in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Briggs) Hines. Leona was raised and educated in Hudson, NY, graduating from Hudson High School. In the early 1970's, Leona relocated to Schenectady with her young family. She took employment as a secretary with Schenectady County in 1980, first with the Department of Buildings and Grounds, while simultaneously taking courses at SCCC. She went on to work with the Schenectady County Department of Health, from where she retired in 2007. Leona was part of a large family and enjoyed surrounding herself with those she loved. She was a natural caregiver and matriarch, and lovingly took care of everyone.

In addition to her parents, Leona was predeceased by 8 brothers. She is survived by her children, Denise Pendelton, William Pendelton, Tanya Bennett, Latisha Loncke and Crystal Pendelton; three brothers, George, William and Leonard Hines; three sisters, Elaine Johnson, Delores Powers and Leila Johnson; ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday July 7, 2023 from 10 until 11:00 a.m. at Light's Funeral Home, 1428 State St., Schenectady with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will take place at Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson, NY.
