Murray Stasny, a resident of Stamford, Texas since 1994, died on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the age of 81.
Murray was a strong, proud, and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many! He is preceded in death by parents, Victor and Mary Stasny; and sister, Cathie Stasny.
Mr. Stasny is survived by his loving wife Grace Stasny of Stamford, TX; 5 children, Stephen Stasny, Wesley Stasny (Kristi), Stephanie Norris (Chad), Vance Thompson (Nicole), Kelley Martin (Jeff); grandchildren, Morgan Morris (Tommy), Kyle Stasny, William Norris, Aemelia Grace Norris, Garrett Thompson, Colby Caffey (Kevin), Sawyer Thompson, Brittney McMahan (Carter) and Brooklyn Martin; great grandchildren, Parker Morris, Sutton Caffey and Ellis Grace Caffey a host of other relatives and friends.
Murray was born in Houston, TX on June 3, 1942, to Victor and Mary (Murray) Stasny. He graduated from Angleton High School in 1960. Murray entered the Army in Angleton, TX on July 25, 1960, served in the One Hundred and First Airborne Division. While serving he received metals for good conduct, parachutist badge, expert badge (rifle), and the sharpshooter badge (automatic rifle). He was honorably discharged on July 24, 1963, in Fort Campbell Kentucky. Upon returning to Angleton, TX, Murray worked as a maintenance supervisor for Dow Chemical for 28 years. On May 30, 1987, he married Grace at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl, a community Murray loved and where he and Grace established their church home. The Stasny's moved from Angleton, TX in 1994 to Stamford, TX where they have made their home for the last 29 years.
Murray was a devoted father, and granddad to his and Grace's blended family. His daily life revolved around Grace and his horses. He loved to be with family and was always up for their family gatherings during the Texas Cowboy Reunion, holidays, special family events, or gathering with friends. Murray cherished the trips he and Grace embarked as well as the people he met along the way. He was a good friend to all, a man who would give the shirt off his back for a friend. Murray had a servant's heart in the community from helping someone in need or working with the Texas Cowboy Reunion. A man who never cared much about himself and who even in his final days displayed concern and care for others, greeting them with a kiss on the cheek and telling them he loved them.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in the Ericksdahl Community with Don Heller, PLM officiating.
