Myles W. Moran, born June 26, 1936, passed away peacefully at his home in Wakefield on Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025, at the age of 89.

He was the son of the late Myles T. and Blanche A. (Bowen) Moran. Born in Salem, MA, Myles was raised in Peabody and Lynn. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1954 and later enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving part of his time in Europe. After returning home, he graduated from East Coast Aero Tech and became an airline mechanic in New York and Boston. In September of 1963, Myles became the co-founder and owner of Foundry Street Garage in Wakefield, which he proudly operated for more than 40 years until his retirement.

In 1960, Myles met the love of his life, Helen O’Brien. What began as a simple introduction through mutual friends grew into a beautiful 64-year marriage. They married in May of 1961 and first lived in Mineola, NY, before settling in Wakefield, where they raised their family and built lifelong friendships. Together, Myles and Helen traveled across the country throughout the years, cherishing time spent with family and friends. Myles was predeceased by his devoted wife Helen this past October.

Myles is survived by his son Kevin Moran and his wife Lori of Atkinson, NH; his daughter Kathy Bankart and her husband Kevin of Marlborough, MA; his daughter Debbie and her partner Carmen Gaeta of Wakefield, MA. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Michaela Moran of Londonderry, NH; Brandon Arnott of Donnelly, ID; Ariana Moran of Boston, MA; and Jordyn Arnott of Boston, MA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Myles was a friendly, outgoing, and deeply social individual who loved people. A longtime small-business owner in Wakefield, he came to know many local residents and was rarely anywhere without being recognized by a customer or friend. He had a remarkable ability to listen with kindness and without judgment, always ready to offer heartfelt and honest advice.

He often reminisced about his time in the Army and had a profound knowledge of both American and European history. Myles never forgot a date or event and loved sharing his knowledge with others. An expert crossword puzzle enthusiast, he completed them daily. He was also a voracious reader who enjoyed countless novels—wherever he sat, his reading nook was never far away.

Myles was an avid Boston sports fan, faithfully supporting the Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins. Over the years he loved playing golf with friends and especially looked forward to long weekend trips with them to both Bermuda and New Hampshire.

Myles felt blessed to share his later years at home with his beloved wife Helen and his devoted daughter Debbie, supported by Debbie’s partner, Carmen. Together they created a home filled with love, care, and unwavering support.

A special thank-you is extended to Gina Panzini and the team at Care Dimensions of Danvers, MA, for their exceptional care.
