MYRA H. YEAGER VIRGINIA BEACH - Myra Higman Yeager, 90, passed away on December 21, 2009 at Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. A native of Sioux City, Iowa, she lived in Arlington, Virginia for almost 60 years before coming to Virginia Beach in 2003. Myra was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Philip B. Yeager. She is survived by one brother, Harold C. "Bud" Higman, three children, Mary Y. Hubbard of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mark P. Yeager of Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Scott B. Yeager of Burlington, Vermont, and their spouses, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. After growing up in Sioux City, Myra attended Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College (now Truman University) and then became a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After raising her family, she earned a Masters' Degree and spent twenty years as a high school guidance counselor. In retirement, Myra was most proud of her work as a docent at the Washington National Cathedral. In addition, her many friends in Arlington and at Westminster would credit her with inspiring them to develop their own artistic talents. Burial will be in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington National Cathedral, Attn: Development Office, Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20016(www.nationalcathedral.org) or the Foundation of Westminster-Canterbury for the Fellowship Fund, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451.
