Verna Myrle (Nix) Anderson passed away peacefully in Eastland, Texas on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 96. A visitation will be 9:00AM – 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A graveside service will begin immediately following the visitation at 10:00 AM in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Myrle was born December 28, 1928, in Cisco, Texas to William Lesley and Sarah Goldia Nix. She was the youngest of six children. At the age of 16, she married Norman Lee Anderson on October 29, 1945. Together, they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Beverly Ann, in February of 1947 and later made their family home in Abilene, Texas. Myrle was a lifelong member of Old Gospel Church of Cisco.
“Mom” as we called her, took great pride in everything she did. She loved to bake sweet treats and was an amazing seamstress. In fact, many stories have been shared of the numerous hours she spent at her sewing machine throughout the years. From making her own clothes, making little dresses for Beverly, sewing a wedding dress for Koretha, sewing prom dresses for Stephanie, and altering prom dresses for Madison and Emily, to later creating window coverings that were absolute perfection. She stitched with so much love.
A loving and caring woman, Mom will be truly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Fischer (Pete) of Clyde, grandkids: Stephanie Sullivan (David) of Clyde, Steve Fischer (Georgia) of Christoval, Great-grandchildren: Jaxon Sullivan (Aliyah), Madison Lopez (Payton), Emily Fischer, Ryan Fischer, Great-Great Grands: Preslee Lopez, Savannah Sullivan, Paxton Lopez, and Stetson Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Anderson; parents, Lesley and Goldia Nix and siblings: Kera, Woodrow, Holland, Myrtle, and Homer.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at The Woodlands Assisted Living Center in Eastland. A special thank you to Lynette, Tammy, Katie, Asia, Susan, Lacey, Jequita, Tonya, Kris, Ruth, Alexis, and Shaden. You loved on Miss Myrle when we couldn’t be present. Never doubt what a difference your caregiving makes.
